League of Women Voters — Newton

The League of Women Voters of Newton is a dynamic organization that needs a site to serve both its many active members and the community at large. In 2007, Tech-Tamer transformed the organization's very first site, created using outdated proprietary software, into an modern, flexible site that could be kept up-to-date by a volunteer using Adobe Contribute. In late 2010, we re-created the site as a WordPress installation using a customized theme based on the Genesis framework. This allows more timely updates, since more volunteers can add or edit content, and it also better reflects the structure and content of the site, which falls into calendar-driven, transitory announcements (posts) and fairly static content (pages). Through the use of plug-ins and WordPress' category features, the content of the site can be easily manipulated to pull information on and off the front page automatically. The site integrates a Google Calendar and permits new members to register and pay online.
